Why this site exists
Switzerland has some of the most beautiful railway journeys in the world, and one of the easiest rail networks to use once you know how it works. The hard part is the planning: which panoramic trains need a seat reservation, whether a Swiss Travel Pass actually saves money, where to change trains, and which escorted holidays include the journeys you really want to ride.
That information is spread across railway sites, tour operator brochures and forums. We bring it together in one place, route by route and train by train, and compare the escorted rail holidays on the facts.
How we compare holidays
We only compare things we can check: what each operator publishes about its own tours. That means the length, the from price, which scenic trains are included, where the flights go from, the hotels, the meals and the pace. We note the date we checked, because prices and dates change.
We don't publish reviews of holiday companies or star ratings, and we never invent experiences. If a tour includes the Bernina Express, we say so because the operator says so, and link you to the operator to see the live details.
Where our facts come from
- Railway operators' own timetables and information: SBB, the Rhaetian Railway, Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn, MOB (GoldenPass) and the mountain railways.
- Official tourism sources such as Switzerland Tourism.
- The tour operators' own published tour details.
- Photos from Wikimedia Commons, credited on each page under their open licences.
Timetables and fares change every December when the new Swiss timetable starts, and we update our guides as they do. If you spot something out of date, please tell us.
How the site makes money
Some links to holiday companies are affiliate links. If you click through and book, the company may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes the facts we show or the order we compare holidays in: that's based on how well each holiday matches what the page is about.
We are independent. We are not part of, or endorsed by, SBB, any Swiss railway or any tour operator.
